The Many Faces of Worship

I didn't say what kind of worship and whose face.

Ok, I debated this one. And this may not be the best example as I have seen some far more extreme examples. Take a look particularly at :35 and 1:17 of the 2:20 clip. Look familiar?

Yeah I really am suspicious of your assertion that this clip had anything to do with worship. At the very most it could have been construed as "idol worship" I suppose. . . .maybe.

in all seriousness--and this isn't the best example-- michael jackson has been the object of worship throughout his career. not so much lately-- but in the 80's and 90's for sure.

He was exalted to the place of deity by adoring worshippers. My theory is that he became something other than human as a result-- in other words, it dehumanized him. this is evidenced in his crazed eccentric efforts to even reconstruct his face.

so I maintain that this is certainly one of the faces of worship-- note i never said Christian worship. i sometimes think we can learn more about christian worship when we look at an example like this that is stripped of religious trappings. it's interesting to ponder what is actually going on there.

Alright well here's another possible example if your looking for something funny. The demise of our friend and childhood idol(crotch grab and high knee Kick salute) was to excruciating to watch.

Check out Rob Bell's December 7th message entitled "Who doesn't want in on that", you need to have the PDF slide show as you listen to the first part of the sermon.
