Were is my room?

I'm in Memphis today attending my third Willow Creek conference. Currently I'm listening to Rick Warren talk about The Purpose Driven Life. God has a great sense of humor.

Actually, Bill Hybels just finished the opening session with a very good talk regarding what preceeds vision based on Moses' experience in Exodus 3 & 4.

He said Moses saw the hopelessness of the people and could not stand it any longer. Moses became Holy Discontent and became passionate about the same thing God was passionate about.

Hybel's repeating theme was, "what is your Holy Discontent?" He pointed to David's discontent with the Israelites when they were challenged by the Philistians and Nehemiah's discontent while living in exile from their home.

It's that Holy Discontent (seeing what breaks God's heart and letting that break ours) that leads to a vision that impacts the world. And when you get a burden let it break your heart and feed it.

Rick Warren is speaking on the stewardship of influence and affluance and how the church is called to serve those who have no voice. He is sharing his personal story of repentance. How he neglected the widows and orphans. He thought that was someone elses calling.

He just said its time for the church to be the church. He says there is a new reformation. The first reformation was about creeds, this one is about deeds. The first was about belief, this one is about behavior.

I've heard him say this several times recently and evidently promoting a new initiative where small groups adopt a village in Africa and give and serve this village together.

God wants to use you, so ask for a Holy Discontent with the way things are and how they could be.

Just thought you might be interested to hear some of these things. Of course if I had my own blog I would post there.

Actually, I've been waiting on a name for my blog and interestingly enough I settled on Rough Draft--Learning to think and how to express those thoughts.
